TOPEKA, Kan. - Downtown Topeka, Inc. is in search of a Colorado Blue Spruce, Leyland Cypress or other well-formed evergreen tree approximately 25 to 35 feet tall to serve as the Official 2008 Westar Community Christmas Tree.

The tree will be decorated by the Westar Women's Association and displayed at Westar throughout the 2008 holiday season.

The tree will be removed from the donor's property at the beginning of November at no cost to the property owner.

The 2008 Westar Community Christmas Tree will be lighted during the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, immediately prior to the Miracle on Kansas Avenue Holiday Parade.

Persons in the Topeka area who are interested in donating a tree are asked to contact Downtown Topeka, Inc. at (785) 234-9336 or dti@sbcglobal.net no later than October 1, 2008.
