Topeka, KS (WIBW)--Medicaid customers will be getting longer lasting identification soon.

The Kansas Health Policy Authority announced Monday that they will be issuing permanent plastic medical ID cards in place of the previously issued monthly paper cards. The plan is all part of the health reform recommendations to decrease administrative costs in health care.

Kansas will be the first state to conform card information to the national standards for advanced ID cards.

The transition is suppose to benefit both providers and beneficiaries by providing more accurate information as well as convenience and security.
