Community leaders in Greensburg have broken ground on a new public gathering place.

The new Kiowa County Community Building will include two meeting rooms to accommodate 30 and 250 people. There will also be a full kitchen, bathrooms with showers, and a commodities room for distributions,

The building will be built to meet LEED Platinum level standards to keep with green rebuilding efforts.

The original Community Building was destroyed in the May 2007 Tornado that damaged or destroyed most of the buildings in Greensburg.

Construction of the new building is expected to be complete by December.
