The Osage County Sheriff's Department seized about $250,000 of suspected drug money Tuesday.

A deputy collected it during a traffic stop on I-35 about 11:30 am.

One suspect is being held in connection with the seizure. He's booked into the Osage County Jail and is awaiting formal charges.

why would they care if their IP address is on there? Do you whoever you are understand their rights in kansas for employment? You listen and you listen good sir whoever you are and I think I know you. There is a reason you work where you do. As far as a deputy saying a few thousand gets lost you are a liar and I would love to have you investigated for slander. Your allegations for a corrupt sheriff's office is over the line. Get a life.

Do you Deputies realize your I.P. addresses are on here? Didn't think so. We already have a corrupt Sheriff's Office. Money counted on the side of the road is never the same as the "official count". It always loses a few thousand and according to the Deputies, it's hard to get an accurate count on the side of the road. Yeah, right! As far as Lyndon and Gregory...while he was there it was the best Dept it had ever been. He was enforcing the laws against the "higher ups" and resigned when the City Manager broke into the Evidence Vault and the City wouldn't do anything about it. The City Clerk knew all about it along with one of the maint guys, so it's not just a rumor. But as far as this post is concerned...good job for the Deputy making the bust, too bad it has to be used to make a corrupt sheriff look good before the election.

Why is this turning into a political forum? The seizure was obviously a legitimate bust. Whether Sheriff Dunn shares the money or not, the point is that it happened. Don't use this as a political gain for Robert Gregory. Sheriff Dunn does a good job, so kudos to her and her dept. She's got my vote. We don't need a corrupt Sheriff's Office.

Unnamed: I dont understand what you are trying to say. Do you think that had a PD officer made the stop Sheriff Dunn would of got some of the money? When PD's get money/grants do you think Sheriff Dunn gets a percent? Each Office is there own even if they are in the same County. This is just more Ignorent statements made by Robert Gregory. Who mind you couldn't even handle a 2 man department in Lyndon.I for hope most can see that Mr. Gregory relies on one thing only. LIES that make the Sheriffs office look bad. I advise anyone with unsure questions/statements made about the Sheriffs office call and speak with the Sheriff.

Banker, you are correct. However, Sherrif Dunn will never share anything with most of the Agencies in the County. Unless the Agencies "play nice" everyday with her, they never see any money. Whether it is Grant Money, assisting them with a Drug Bust, whatever, she likes to keep all of the credit, making all of her Deputies look great. I know the Deputy who conducted the Traffic Stop, he is a really good Deputy and I am happy to see he got this bust. Vote Robert Gregory for Osage County Sheriff. Osage County needs change!

Let"s see, Once the money gets threw the corts and then threw the chanels and after the others like DEA ECT. maybe in 2 or 3 years we will see 50,000. and in the meantime we will spend maybe 100,000 to prosicute the trile and plus the apples. but it is good to see that out of a traffic stop we are finaly upholding the law ?

The money is split among the agencies involved in the seizure by percentage. The money CANNOT be used for wages and other items normally in the budget. It is usually used for training, specialized equipment, and special programs (such as IDentakid). These expendatures from the seizure money mean that they don't have to be paid for out of the budget, meaning more money from the budget can go to other programs approved by the county commissioners. Hats off to the Sheriff's Dept. for making a large seizure like this. Shame on the political hacks that make up statements about Sheriff Dunn giving back a quarter million $$ last year from the budget. Total LIE.

I read in the paper last week it supports the Sheriffs dept. They use the money to buy equipment needed. Along with training for the Officers and, for the Identakid funding. Somebodies drug money is helping us stay safer in Osage County. I would like to thank the Deputy that helped get a quarter of a million dollars of dirty money out of the drug dealers hands and in to hands that use it to help us.
