TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ The mother and kid sister of a man shot to death outside a Topeka pool hall lash out at his killer during his sentencing in Shawnee County District Court.
Judi Kalina on Thursday called Timothy Abdul-Kareem Shahid a ``coward'' and a ``monster'' for killing her son, Josh Kalina, on April 24, 2007. The 20-year-old Kalina was gunned down in a parking lot at Terry's Billiards after he and Shahid met that evening.
Kalina's younger sister, Jamie Kalina, said photographs she saw of her brother with bullet holes in his chest have haunted her. Since his death, she named her younger son, Josh, after her brother.
Judi Kalina said she suffers nightmares.
Shahid was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison for his guilty pleas to voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Our justice system is so warped. My cousin killed someone 15 years ago in Texas while under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to life, with no rehab. This guy kills someone because he's mad. He gets 20 years? Makes me sick to my stomach. To me, if you go to a pool hall to meet someone there, and you are illegally carrying a weapon, wouldn't this qualify as intent?

twenty years is not long enough for this type of crime. hope he dies in the pen.

how do you kill someone and get voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assualt with a deadly weapon. sounds like murder to me.
