AFGHANISTAN - 1st Lt. Daniel Farkas, 42, died from non-combat related injuries July 4 in Kabul, Afghanistan. The incident is under investigation.

Farkas was an artillery officer serving on a Military Transition Team
assigned to 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. His home of record is
Brooklyn, N.Y.

Farkas entered the Army in October 1992 and began serving with the 1st Infantry Division in January 2008.

To date, 153 Fort Riley Servicemembers have died while serving in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
