Topeka Ranked in Top 20 for Safest Driving Cities Save Email Print

TOPEKA, Kan. - Residents of Topeka are among the safest drivers in America and are the safest drivers in the state, according to the 2008 Allstate America's Best Drivers Report.

Cruising in at number 16 on the list, Topeka beat our several other notable mentions in the state, including Kansas City, Kan. (#24); Wichita (#32); and Overland Park (#73).

For the third consecutive year, Sioux Falls, SD motorists maintained their status as the safest drivers in the U.S., according to the report. The average driver in Sioux Falls experiences an auto collision every 14.6 years. Compare that to the national likelihood of a driver experiencing a collision every 10 years - Sioux Falls motorists are 31.6 percent less likely to get into a car accident.

Holding fast to the number two spot for the third consecutive year is Fort Collins, Colo. On average, motorists in Fort Collins experience an auto collision every 13.4 years.

Allstate researchers analyzed company claim data to determine the likelihood drivers in America's 200 largest cities would experience a vehicle collision compared to the national average.
