Disputes over the upcoming election ballots in Kansas were heard Monday.

Objections over candidates are go before the State Objections Board, comprised of Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh, Attorney General Steve Six and Lieutenant Governor Mark Parkinson or a representative of their offices. Each appeared in person Monday.

Four candidates were disputed, including Dickinson County Commission candidate Pierre Carpentier of Abilene. At issue was the Libertarian candidate declaring in the wrong commission district. Registration records indicate Carpentier lives in commission district 1, but he filed for district 2, which isn't even up for election this year. The board ruled Carpentier will remain on the ballot.

The three other objections concerned late filing questions for district magistrate judge positions. Darrell Rorh of Sharon Springs will remain on the ballot for District 15, Position 4 in Wallace County after the county clerk admitted her mistake in not sening filings to the Secretary of State's office. Damon Brown of Plains will also remain on the ballot for District 16, Position 5 in Meade County. He did not receive notification about incomplete paperwork due to travel in the trucking business.

In judicial district 15, position 1 in Cheyenne County, however, Steven Orth of St. Francis will not be on the ballot. His petition arrived at the Secretary of State's office a day late and the position number he was seeking was filled in by the county election officer, rather than Orth.
