MANHATTAN, Kan. - City crews in Manhattan have started cleaning up tree limbs and other debris from last week's tornadoes, which is going to cause some road closures Wednesday, June 18.

Sections of Amherst Avenue will be closed to facilitate the removal of large tree limbs and as a safety precaution from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

Amherst will be closed from Seth Child to Research Drive during that time. From 8:00 a.m. to noon, Amherst will be closed from Research Drive to North Dartmouth Drive.

Anyone who would normally travel that way will be detoured to Miller Parkway and K-18.

If you have debris you need taken away by the City, leave it at the curb.

You'll still be responsible for making arrangements to remove any structures that were destroyed.

You can call the Flint Hills American Red Cross at 537-2180 or Salvation Army at 539-9399 to see about financial assistance.
