TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Authorities are identifying a victim from this week's deadly tornadoes as a 62-year-old rural Jackson County resident.
The Jackson County sheriff's office says George Askren was thrown from his mobile home Wednesday night by a twister near the tiny town of Soldier.
Askren lived along the Jackson-Nemaha county line between Soldier and Circleville and had a Circleville address.
Undersheriff Danny Howerton says the storm picked up Askren's mobile home and carried it about 225 yards. The twister dropped it so that it blocked a nearby rural road.
Howerton said Askren's body was found 50 yards away from the home.
The Wednesday night storms also left a woman dead in Chapman, but she has not been identified.
