A Kansas community college is taking steps to position the state as a wind energy leader.

The department of commerce awarded Cloud County Community College $155 thousand dollars to expand the wind energy technology program.

The money will also help fund an increase in Kansas' capacity for wind energy production. CCCC will hire new staff and equipment for its associate of applied science degree program in wind energy technology.

It's the only such program in Kansas, and one of just five nationwide.
