Sam Reilly is a National Guard Iraqi war veteran who could not stay caught up on his house payments. He says he was waiting for a VA settlement check that, according to him, was mired in red tape.

Reilly asked for help from Congresswoman Nancy Boyda, the National Guard and 13 News.

He says Boyda called the VA and told them life could be very uncomfortable if there wasn't movement on this -- and now there has been.

Reilly said he has received his settlement, and it is the start of a new life for him, his pregnant wife and their young child.

He will now be stationed in Kentucky, where his father lives and where he has some family that can help him out. He is sorry to lose his home, but is ready for a new beginning, and is not bitter.

Shannon, You should owe the Veterans, I can tell by your comments that you have never served There are men and women that are sacrificing their lives to allow you to make such harsh and heartless comments. Until you have walked a mile in their boots, don't feel that you have the responsibility to comment on others that have. Our Soldiers give up some of their rights to allow you to have yours, but like my Mother used to say " if you cant say anything nice, don't say anything at all" I welcome any and all comments

Regardless of circumstances, some should thank a Soldier... for they are the ones that earned the right for you to post heartless comments as you do in a our society. No other country would allow you to do so!

Shannon are you one of the cowards of the WBC? If so that would account for your response.

This is for shannon, you may have a point in this case, but let me tell you something, if it wasn't for those that voluteered to protect this country, then where would you be? Do we owe you for doing your job, do you put your life on the line for others, those are the people that deserve more than what they get.

I am sorry the comment about not oweing the veterans bothers me. YES these people did volunteer, but if they had not then what would happen. We should as a nation take care of the brave people in this country who are willing to give up their live for us. Not everybody in this world would be able to give up their life for ungrateful people.

Give me a break...I am tired of hearing how we "owe" the Veterans...They volunteered...they went and did the job they voluteered for. We "owe" them NOTHING. Do we owe you for doing your job?? If you don't pay your bills you go. Why Why Why did he have 13 dogs when he probably couldn't even put food on the table...and...then...pregnant again??? Real smart!!

He's living in Topeka, waiting on the government to do something. THat's like living in hell waiting on a check from Satan.

This was a waste of reading time. What about our story and problems with the VA and getting paymet that we had. There are other people out there that are worse off then this guy and my family that needs to have their story told in the news and be taken care. please focus on what is important.
