There's plenty of representation from Topeka and Northeast Kansas in the Kansas City Star's top fifty business list.

The Star fifty survey lists the top performing companies, including Westar Energy at number 14, Lawrence's Protection One and Topeka's Collective Brands Shoe Corporation rank 24 and 25.

Collective Brands with Payless Shoes had been number two last year.

Collective Brands CEO Matt Rubel scored the top compensation for a CEO at nearly seven million dollars, including salary, bonus and stock awards.

Westar's Bill Moore's one and a half million dollar compensation package places him 17th on the CEO list, while Cap Fed Financial's John Dicus is in the top thirty, nearing the million dollar mark for last year.
