OLATHE, Kan. (AP) _ The man accused of kidnapping an 18-year-old
woman from an Overland Park parking lot and killing her was back in court Monday.

The hearing was ordered by Johnson County District Judge Peter Ruddick because defense lawyers accuse prosecutors in the case of
withholding evidence that could help their client, Edwin Hall.

The 27-year-old Hall is charged with capital murder in the death last summer of Kelsey Smith of Overland Park. Smith disappeared after leaving a Target store. Her body was found four days later about 15 miles away in a Missouri park. She had been raped and strangled.

District Attorney Phill Kline said at a hearing earlier this month that he's retained an auditor to ensure that all evidence has been turned over to the defense.

Hall's trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 16. He faces the death penalty if convicted.
