Putting a stop to stalking took center stage at the Capital Plaza Hotel Tuesday.

The 11th annual Crime Victims' Rights Conference started with a pre-conference institute on stalking. People attending shared ideas on how to handle stalkers and heard about proposed changes in state stalking laws.

Attorney General Steve Six says the proposed change would make things easier on law enforcement.

"It was a change in the standard of proof that the law enforcement needed to prove that somebody was stalking and the change in the language now will allow them to charge more people, I think, at an earlier stage and hopefully interrupt this kind of behavior," Six said.

Among those supporting the changes are the parents of Jodi Sanderholm, a Cowley County college student who was stalked before being kidnapped and murdered early last year.

Lawmakers are still considering the changes.
