EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) _ Even with credit for five years already served, a Kansas man will be in prison until he is in his 80s.

Sixty-two-year-old Kenneth Waddell of Americus was sentenced Monday to 27 years in prison on eight counts of child sexual abuse. Lyon County District Judge Merlin Wheeler reduced the sentence
to reflect Waddell's prison time after a jury's convictions on the eight counts in 2003.

The Kansas Court of Appeals overturned that verdict, saying prosecutors should have had the alleged victim testify in open court instead of relying on videotaped statements. The judges also said some of the evidence from Waddell's daughter was prejudicial to his defense. The Kansas Supreme Court agreed, forcing a retrial.

A Sedgwick County jury then convicted Waddell in February of the same eight counts.

Poor guy, until he is 80, that is too bad. Just like the guy who has to have signs on his house and car, I feel really bad for him too. Oh wait maybe if they didn't commit child sexual abuse these things would not happen.
