A man is charged with raping an inmate at the correctional facility where he worked near Topeka.
The Shawnee County District Attorney's office has filed charges against 28-year-old Anastacio Gallardo for unlawful sexual relations and two counts of traffic in contraband in a correctional institution.
Gallardo was the victim's vo-tech plumbing instructor at the Women's Correctional Facility just east of Topeka. The Corrections Department says Gallardo was a facility maintenance supervisor who started at the facility in December 2006. His last day on the job was Jan. 4, 2008.
An investigation established that the woman was pregnant and that the only possible father was Gallardo.
He is being held on $150,000 bond with professional surety.

Thanks for making the correction on the fact that Gallardo was not a corrections officer..however, the inmate is no longer pregnant due to the state paying for an abortion..which was due to Gallardo bringing in "the day after pill" to give her..thus the reason for one of his trafficking charges.
