(WIBW) - A Pottawatomie County man is headed to prison on charges he stole more than a half-million dollars from his mother's trust fund.
Kent Joseph Gockel was sentenced to two and a half years and ordered to pay the money back. He pleaded guilty in May to 11 counts of bank fraud...
The sentence won't start until the 52-year old finishes serving another 30 month term for a federal firearms violation.
On July 19, 2008, prosecutors say, Gockel’s mother learned that her trust account at Silver Lake Bank was overdrawn. A review of bank statements revealed Gockel had been writing checks to himself or to cash from his mother’s accounts without her knowledge.
On Jan. 7, 2009, his mother learned that another account she had at Kaw Valley State Bank had been almost emptied. A review of the account revealed Gockel had wired money or written checks from the trust accounts totaling more than $500,000. Gockel made wire transfers from his mother’s accounts to Hall of Fame Collectables in Allentown, Penn., BMX Entertainment S.A. San Jose, Costa Rica, and Olympus Entertainment Group, St. John’s Antigua, West Indies.
Prosecutors say Gockel stole a total of $584,688 through the bank fraud scheme.

Agree, 30 years far more fits the crime.....Whats really sad is that his mother won't ever see a dime of the money! How anyone can leave their own elderly mother totally penniless is beyond belief! What a loser and P's me off that my tax dollars are going to be feeding this scum-bag! Just pathetic!
It's about time Kent boy gets to serve some time. I think he should get 30 years not just 30 months. Hope you have plenty of soap on a rope and other supplies to tie you over fat boy.
Wow, I just checked and two of those organizations are online casinos!
