Silver Lake Coach Credits Others For Success

Silver Lake (WIBW) - Silver Lake had two reasons to celebrate a sweep of Holton in baseball Thursday night.

The wins keeps the Eagles undefeated on the season, but the second victory marked the 300th win for head coach Alan Cunningham.

Cunningham said, for a while, he thought the milestone might be delayed.

In the first game, Holton's Adam Luthi limited Silver Lake to a handful of hits and blasted a monster home run. The Eagles were down 4-0 before coming back to win 6-5. Silver Lake claimed the nightcap, 12-2.

Cunningham gave credit to assistant coach C.J. Hamilton, along with school officials, parents and all of the athletes he has coached.

Silver Lake has won 14 state baseball titles, but the Eagle move up to class 4A this year. Cunningham says the team is looking forward to the challenge.
