That’s the question before members of the Topeka City Council. Should the public get a chance to vote about the possible increase in the sales tax rate for street maintenance?

Valentine’s Day weekend is a great time to talk about love. Now I’m not talking about L-O-V-E, rather L-U-V is short-hand for “Let Us Vote.”

That’s the question before members of the Topeka City Council. Should the public get a chance to vote about the possible increase in the sales tax rate for street maintenance?

Now we can argue about whether it is a good idea. But I don’t think anyone can argue about letting the voters decide. I don’t understand council members who place their judgment over letting the people judge.

So if you think the people should be the final judge on whether there be a vote on the sales tax, then here’s what you do, call one of these council members. Each has either not taken a position on letting the people vote or have said they were against letting you decide.

Spread a little luv this weekend! Call and tell your council members that you want them to “Let Us Vote.”

I want to know what you think. Write me, send me an email, or make a comment below.
