I don’t think most folks know who Topeka City Councilmember Richard Harmon is.
It is hard to stand out when some council members seem to work so hard to get the WRONG type of attention. But you should get to know Harmon.
This week, he’s proposed an ordinance to make sure the City Council never bypasses the public before ramming through an ill-advised proposal -- remember our fleet of helicopters?
Harmon’s proposal would make it all but impossible for a slim council majority to rush a decision without public comment.
It’s the same level-headed, problem-solving approach that Harmon took in straightening out last year’s budget process.
I’m fortunate to live in Harmon’s district. Maybe the rest of the city should get itself a thoughtful, smart and effective councilperson such as Harmon.
