Tired of hearing “bad” news?
I’ve got some good news for you about Topeka.
Friday, the United Way of Greater Topeka announced that it had exceeded its goal of five-point-nine million dollars in the recent campaign. Or put it another way, that’s about $25 for every man, woman, and child in the counties the United Way serves. One of the highest numbers of any city in the country.
Even if you didn’t give to this year’s campaign, you can be proud that you live in a city that is so generous.
But do ask yourself, why not give?
Why not give when so many people benefit from programs those donations make possible?
I also want to tell you about a hero. Her name is Nancy Perry. This was her last United Way campaign as President of the organization.

When so many people work to divide Topekans over our problems, Nancy Perry has brought Topekans together to find solutions.
While it is her last campaign, she’ll remain with the United Way through the fund allocation process next year.
Few people have done so much to make our community stronger.
If you see her, make sure you say “thank you” for all she’s done.
We want to know what you think. Post a comment below or send me an email at the station.
