OLATHE, Kan. (AP) _ A grand jury has indicted a Johnson County man on charges of kidnapping, rape, aggravated sodomy and capital murder in the slaying of 18-year-old Kelsey Smith in June.

Johnson County Attorney Phill Kline said the grand jury indictment replaces charges previously filed against 26-year-old Edwin Hall of Olathe.

Hall is accused of kidnapping Smith from the parking lot of a Target store in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park. Surveillance video from the store showed Smith being confronted and pushed into her car. Her body was found four days later in a park about 20 miles away in Missouri.

The indictment announced tonight makes a preliminary hearing unnecessary. Kline says a preliminary hearing would have revealed
evidence before the case went to trial.

Hall's arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 pm Wednesday. Kline then will have five days to decide whether to pursue the death penalty.

i guess this grand jury move will allow a continued wall of silence about the case. i have been trying to find out more since i had met hall and have reason to suspect other matters which i can not mention. public interest can hamper a investigation but some times be a help.
