Board of Ed. Member Morris Delivers Parting Shot
Conservative Board member accuses other members of lies and slander in her last meeting before leaving the Board.

Conservative Kansas Board of Education member Connie Morris leveled a few zingers during her final meeting Thursday.

Morris said other members ``lie and slander'' and that the news media beat her up before she was defeated by moderate Sally Cauble.

Thursday's meeting was the last for Morris and fellow conservative Iris Meter, who did not seek re-election and is being replaced by Jana Shaver.

Morris once called evolution a ``fairy tale'' as the board's conservative majority rewrote science standards. The new board's moderate majority is expected to kill science standards that cast doubt on evolution.

Morris also ruffled some feathers with her frequent taxpayer-funded trips to conferences out of state.
