Felony murder and burglary charges were filed Friday in Lawrence against Leonard Wayne Price, a 46 year old from Topeka who's now accused in a murder that shocked Lecompton last year. 77 year old Clarence David Boose, who founded David's Jewelers in downtown Topeka, was found dead in his home in April 2005 by a friend who hadn't heard from him.

Shawnee, Jefferson, Jackson and Pottawatomie Sheriff's Departments all helped their Douglas County colleagues, along with the KBI and numerous other agencies. District Attorney Charles Branson offered few details about the killing, or the man they've charged, other than to say they believe Price was robbing Boose's rural Lecompton man when Boose stumbled onto the burglary and robbery, and was killed.

Boose's daughter, Teresa Payne of McPherson, was also at a news conference in Lawrence Friday. She thanked the law enforcers for their diligent work in charging Price as the killer, and says no one, child or adult, should live in fear of violence in their own home.
