Only the people that have come on their own are in Topeka right now, but the Red Cross is preparing for the arrival of 1,500 evacuees that could be brought in by plane or bus.

Red Cross volunteers unloaded cots and blankets brought in by other counties in the Red Cross chapter.

All the supplies are being stored in a semi truck trailer in the Kansas Expocentre's Exhibition Hall.

Other local groups are pitching in as well.

Pepsi delivered 200 packages of water bottles purchased by Washburn University, without charge.

Although the Red Cross has no guarantee that people will be brought to Topeka, they say evacuees could arrive tomorrow.

Alan Stahl, a Red Cross volunteer said Topeka is reaching out, “The community's pulling together wonderfully, we've got incredible help from anybody that we asked from, Shawnee County, city of Topeka, the expo center staff, and a wonderful outpouring of volunteers. We'll be ready."

The Kansas Expocentre is still planning to host the Alice Cooper concert tomorrow night and employees aren't changing plans until they're told people are officially coming.
