jury deliberations began Friday in the child sex retrial of an Americus man.

13 News partner KVOE Radio reports Kenneth Waddell testified in his own defense before the jury got the case.

Waddell was convicted of repeatedly molesting a young girl in 2003. The decision was overturned by the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court because the alleged victim testified only on video, not in court where she might be subject to cross-examination. She testified this week in open court and corroborated earlier statements that Waddell molested her.

The trial was moved from Lyon County to Sedgwick County due to publicity.

The jury worked into Friday night and may return Saturday to continue deliberations.
