The Wichita City Council chose not to single out pit bulls in an amended ordinance targeting aggressive dogs.

In the end, the council made one significant change to city laws. To be considered dangerous, a dog no longer has to bite someone - it can be considered dangerous by aggressive behavior.

The city can force all dogs labeled "dangerous" to be sterilized and micro chipped. Any dog that is caught running loose can be labeled dangerous.

If a dog only bites once, the city can euthanize it.

Some council members had pushed for strict guidelines solely on pit bulls. The city says 30% of all bites in Wichita are by pit bulls.

It's all in how you raise the dog. Give them lots of love & attention and thats what they will give back. Out of all the breeds I have interacted with pits seem to be one of the most affectionate. These dogs that are biting peoples faces off have either been abused or trained to fight other dogs. The bad owners are the ones that need to be put down.

Pit Bulls are a Dangerous dog!!! I have small children and a small dog, all of wich have been persued by the aggresive pit bulls that live next to us. I personally would get rid of every overly aggresive dog I see if laws allowed!

Beeg. Do you think that we should get rid of all the cars in the world, because they kill more people than pit bulls ever will! And if a pit bull has the right owner they are very loving, caring dogs!

I own 2 pitbulls that are fixed and has micro chiped already. The only problem i had with the orginal proposal was it was BSL. I would suport a new city law that only allows a person to own two dogs no matter the breed and only registered breeders could breed any dog. This would cut down on all strays, over crowding and stop back yard breeders. This would never pass because everyone would say it is unfair. I say it is unfair to single out the dogs i love and care for. If you want to pet my dogs and see for your self why i love them. If you want nothing to do with my dogs thats fine, you don'y bug them and i won't bug you. P.s. Did you people notice in mondays eagle pitbulls were on the front page but now that there is no law against them they story today was buried in the local and state section?? I guess the eagle only publishes bad story's about pitbulls!!

I think they should quit singling pit bulls out they can be very loving dogs they need to start singling out the owner that are stupid and train them to be mean. they dont pay attention to them just love them and let them be your buddy.

Jennifer have you tried talking to your neighbors about it? If they are reasonable and responsible pet owners I would imagine they would have no problems helping you feel more at ease about it. Unless you've had prior problems with that particular dog, do not fear that animal simply because it's a pit bull. If you have had prior problems maybe you should bring it to the attention of the city? Just my two cents.

I own a pit bull and i am ok withe new ordinance but I know pit bulls will still be the intended target. But i do believe that if u own a pit bull you should have a completely fenced yard that would curb some of the pits that are running loose but it is ultimately up to the owner and to be a responsible owner you have to OWN UP and do what your supposed to do.

I have a neighbor who owns a pit bull and I'm afraid of it. They have an unfinished fenced and I know one of these days it will get out.
