Wichita officials have allocated $4-million toward building a new theater at Wichita's Old Cowtown Museum. They also unveiled the design for the proposed theater, but have changed the timeline to complete it.

The original completion date was November of this year. Now officials say they're not setting a date. They say this gives them more time to look at what other opportunities the facility could bring to the city.

wichita has always been ruled by developers, builders, and their lawyers. they try anything that might make them money at taxpayers expense. things they didnt build, like the boathouse and cowtown, they run down and finally take over.

Why dont we look into the builders of these large projetcs and see how many city council members are invested with these companies. I would bet we would find the obvious reason for the over spending on pointless projects. Let do something about education and homelessness in Wichita before we try and attract out of towners.

Wichita, when is it going to stop? The Coliseum doesn't make money but you want to build a arena. You built an ice skating rink and it was a failure, then you built Exploration Place and it too was a failure. Why don't you quit pretending that you're some big city like St. Louis, Dallas or Houston and quit spending your money on stupid things that you know there is not enough people in the area to support. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that there ain't that many people who take a vacation to Wichita so I wouldn't be counting on tourism to support your bright ideas! Wichita is a dog t*rd and you're trying to cover it up with icing.....it doesn't matter how much icing you put on it it's still a dog t*rd. If it wasn't for my job i'd be out of here in a heartbeat!

Maintain existing buildings , streets, neighborhoods first ...if there is money left over then send it to cow town !

I hope someone besides me is ready to run for City Council. These guys don't have a clue. Didn't I just read a week or so ago about how little the Wrangler have contributed since starting the shows at Cowtown? This isn't going to fix Cowtown - it's just another EXPENSIVE boondoggle that we'll watch crumble for years to come.

Bet they wouldn't spend it if it was their money; Wichita government is the best money can buy

What happened to the old west cowtown? The new expenditures are too much. That is silly. The Arena is also silly. Guess someone likes money and wants to get some of it close to their projects.
