Severe weather rocked parts of Kansas Thursday night, even producing a tornado in one cell. The National Weather Service in Hastings, Nebraska said the half-mile wide tornado was classified as an EF-2, with estimated winds reaching 115 mph.

The tornado touched down between midnight and 12:30 a.m., destroying some buildings near Beloit and Jamestown.

Officials aren't able to determine an exact number of damaged buildings at this time, but no one is reported hurt.

The storm also knocked down some power lines, causing outages in the area. Crews are working to restore power.

Elsewhere across the state, the storm forced one school to shut down. USD 316 Golden Plain's elementary school cancelled classes because of damage. The middle and high schools remain open.

amy, you need to ask for the story again, it wasn't the krier's who lost their roof.... my thoughts and prayers with all the families that did suffer losses!

Luckily for us in SE kansas, we have been spared out by the storms. We havent gotten much in the way of severe other then heavy run. The season is still short though, and still alot more to come.
