The driver of a van from Wichita was killed in a head-on collision with a semi-truck carrying a large implement near Greensburg Thursday.

The wreck happened about 11:20am, one mile east of Haviland on Highway 54.

Authorities say a tractor trailer hauling a large Caterpillar implement was eastbound when a westbound van crossed the center line and struck the tracks of the Caterpillar.

The side of the van was torn apart - the driver, 60-year-old Kendall E Hoyt, died at the scene.

The driver of the semi, from Ulysses, was not hurt.
