Two Kansas Teachers Recognized For Achievements

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Two Kansas teachers were recognized during Tuesday's state board of education meeting.

Angela Miller, a secondary math teacher at Eisenhower Middle Elementary School in Mahattan-Ogden, and Dennis Burkett, a secondary science teacher at Olathe South High School were celebrated today.

Both are national finalists for the 2011 presidential awards for excellence in mathematics and science teaching.

Miller and Burkett received $10,000 from the National Science Foundation and a week long trip to Washington DC after being named finalists.

97 teachers around the country received the distinction.
