TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ The Kansas House has rejected a compromise bill on liquor laws over objections that some of the language had never passed either legislative body this session.

Senators had approved the bill earlier Friday. It includes rules and regulations for wine tastings and provisions for alcohol to be served at the Statehouse with approval from legislative leaders.

But a section on contests for homebrews prompted House objections, since the text had never been approved by the House or Senate in its original form.

A similar objection was raised in the Senate on a different subject in the compromise but was rejected after a reading of legislative rules.

Negotiators say they will rework the bill when they return from a monthlong break in May.
