TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Kansas revenue officials say the state ended the fiscal year with a positive cash-flow picture.

The Kansas Revenue Department said Friday that receipts for fiscal year 2013 beat estimates by $86.6 million.

For June, the final month of the fiscal year, revenue beat estimates by $25.1 million, or 4.6 percent. It's also a bump from last year, beating June 2012 by $159.6 million.

“We are heading into fiscal year 2014 on firm financial footing and I’m pleased to see that Kansas’ economy continues to improve,” said Revenue Secretary Nick Jordan.

The state says the second half of the fiscal year reflected cuts in income tax rates that took effect January 1.
