TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Kansas Senator got a firsthand look at how health care discussions in Washington impact Kansans.

Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kansas, visited physical therapists and clients at Bloom and Associates in Topeka.

Moran says the owners visit him in Washington each year, but this was a chance to see firsthand the issues which they discuss. He says he gained fresh insight into their concerns over Medicare and access to appropriate physical therapy. He says it not only helps him, but it also gives him real-life stories to take back to Washington and share with his colleagues, particularly when it comes to how health care issues impact people in rural areas.

One specific concern Moran has is with a cap on reimbursement for services. Moran says his visit Friday reinforced two reasons it concerns him - it caps on an annual basis, no matter what time of year the injury occurs and also the cap applies to the year in total, no matter how many injuries a person might suffer.
