WASHINGTON, (WIBW) Kansas US Senator Jerry Moran joined other senators in asking the Senate Finance Committee to recognize the importance of maintaining the charitable tax deduction.
Senate Finance Committee members are currently considering ways to reform the tax system. In their letter, they state that in 2012 Americans donated more than 300 billion dollars to charitable organizations.
Sen. Moran said he believes cutting or limiting charitable deductions would cause donations to decline by billions of dollars every year.
