TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -The community is gathered Thursday night at highland park high school to kick start youth in a positive way.

Community leaders met with a national organization called L.E.A.D.E.R.S.H.I.P. 1st in an attempt to guide Topeka's youth to make positive decisions and walk productive paths.

The free event focused on the theme of "Being a Path Builder," and features some local names such as former Highland Park Highschool Principal and Emporia State hall of famer Dale Cushinberry as well as Highland Park Coach Ken Darting.
