Kansas Democratic Holding 2012 State Convention In Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Kansas Democratic Party will be holding its 2012 Kansas Democratic State Convention this Saturday, June 9th, at the Topeka Ramada Convention Center.

Party leaders, national delegates, and elected officials will join together to elect the State Party’s National Committeeman and Committeewoman, as well as eleven at-large delegates to the Democratic National Convention being held this September in Charlotte, NC.

“This weekend is the last step the Kansas Democratic Party must take to finalize our Democratic National Convention delegation,” Jason Perkey, Kansas Democratic Party executive director said. “With over 50 candidates, our convention should prove exciting. The KDP is looking forward to meeting with all our state leaders and elected officials to complete delegate selection and kick off the 2012 elections. Though we may not have redistricted maps yet because of the dysfunction in Topeka, candidates from across the state have been stepping up to run and let voters know Kansas Democrats believe in strong schools, good jobs, and a fair system that works for everyone.”

All Kansas Democrats are welcome to attend the Kansas Democratic State Convention though only state committee members may vote for at-large delegates.
