TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Candidates in the state's 2nd Congressional District race are debating over debates.
Incumbent Republican Lynn Jenkins sent a letter to Democratic challenger Margie Wakefield at the beginning of the month, asking for three debates.
On Thursday, Wakefield responded with a proposal for six debates. She has proposed holding the discussions in Leavenworth, Shawnee, Crawford, Montgomery, Douglas and Franklin counties. She also urged Jenkins to have a true and open discussion to let voters know where they stand on issues.
Jenkins had previously said debates will help voters make an informed decision.
