Gov. Brownback’s Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration Announced

TOPEKA, Kan Kansas will host the Governor’s Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration on Thursday, January 16, 2014 on the first floor in the rotunda of the Kansas State Capitol building.

This year the event is scheduled to start with a ceremonial march from the Kansas Judicial Center to the capitol at 11:45a.m.

The keynote address will be delivered by Ron Freeman, former football player for Pittsburg State University, father of former Kansas State Quarterback Josh Freeman, and inspirational speaker.

Kansas State Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau, Kansas African-American Affairs Commission Chair, Chiquita Coggs will will serve as mistress of ceremonies.

The annual celebration also will feature Topeka Highland Park ROTC; Topeka High School Drumline, Topeka Community Mass Choir, and Dr. Tony Stanley of Harvest Church West Branch.
