The Adjutant General’s Department recalled 126 of 263 federally-funded state employees furloughed because of the federal government shutdown. These employees work for the Regional Sustainment Maintenance Site facilities in Salina and at Fort Riley. The reason these employees could be recalled is because they are working under Fiscal Year 2013 funding.
Notifications began Monday, Oct. 14. Operations will begin once employees have reported to work.
“We are grateful that we have been able to recall these employees,” said Maj. Gen. Lee Tafanelli, the adjutant general. “The work they do is important to our state and nation. Having them back on the job contributes to our readiness in fulfilling our National Guard missions.”
The RSMS facilities refurbish military equipment for the Department of Defense.
