Brownback Pleased With Iowa Showing

Senator Sam Brownback's campaign says they are pleased with their showing in yesterday's straw poll.

Brownback spoke to a crowd of supporters after the results were released at Iowa's Ames Straw Poll yesterday saying this was his "ticket to the Iowa caucuses."

He was among a list of other GOP presidential hopefuls, with the noted exceptions of Rudy Guliani and Sen. John McCain.

Brownback came in third palce with a little more than 15 percent of the vote.

Mitt romney was the big winner of the event, garnering over 31 percent of the vote.
And Mike Huckabee came in second with a little over 18 percent of the vote.

A total of 14,302 ballots were cast in yesterday's poll.
