WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Sen. Sam Brownback says he's still working on the speech he will give Thursday at the GOP National Convention.
The Kansas Republican will speak three spots before John McCain accepts the nomination. He will also introduce vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
Brownback says he'll discuss energy, taxes and the ethic of valuing life at every stage.
Some political pundits say Brownback's high profile speaking slot might bolster his chances of running for governor in 2010, which Brownback has said he is considering.
And Joe Aistrup, head of political science at Kansas State University, says Brownback's prime speaking spot is a reward for his early endorsement of McCain. Brownback is a hero of the conservative right, which has questioned whether McCain reflects their values.
