Kansas Rep Says Congress Should be Working on Energy

Concern for families' rising costs has one Kansas Congressman in Washington while most of his colleagues headed home.

U.S. Rep. Jerry Moran, R-Kansas, says Americans can't afford the price of fuel - and everything else that impacts, from food prices to farm fertilizer.

He says, instead of recessing, Congress should be working to develop a comprehensive energy plan.

"Congress should not be on a vacation when the rest of the country can't afford one," Moran said. "I'm here in Washington (Tuesday) with a number of my colleagues once again calling on the Republican President or the Democrat Speaker of the House of Representatives to call this Congress back into session."

Moran says an energy plan should include exploring and drilling for domestic oil, alternative and renewable fuels, and conservation.
