TOPEKA,Kan. (AP) _ State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins and Rep. Nancy
Boyda are holding events in the Statehouse to start their race for
the 2nd Congressional District seat.
Jenkins and fellow Republican Jim Ryun were to hold a unity news conference in the Statehouse Thursday afternoon. Jenkins beat Ryun
in Tuesday's primary, ending his bid to reclaim the seat he lost to
Boyda two years ago.
Boyda planned an event of her own later in the afternoon. Earlier Thursday she held an event in Pittsburg.
The 2nd District covers part or all of 26 counties in eastern Kansas. The race is expected to be competitive and draw much national attention as Republicans look to reclaim the seat they held from 1994 to 2006.
