ELKHART, Ind. (AP) _ Barack Obama is campaigning in Indiana
Wednesday with a man considered to be among the top prospects for a
Senator Evan Bayh is spending the day with Obama in his home state of Indiana, a generally Republican-leaning state that's seen as a battleground this year. He's the son of former Senator Birch Bayh and served two terms as governor. The onetime backer of Hillary Rodham Clinton is also a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Bayh says Obama would bring ``a breath of fresh air'' to Washington.
For his part, Obama calls Bayh ``one of the finest U.S. senators.'' But Obama is giving no hint that he's nearing a vice presidential decision.
