Senate Passes Bill to Help Military Families

The United States Senate passed a bill today that will remove barriers that prevent Kansas Military Families from accessing low income housing.

Last week, the House of Representatives passed the bill. It now goes to the president's desk.

Many military families are ineligible for low income housing because current rules require housing allowances to be figures into income. The new bill will remove the allowance from the formula.

Senator Pat Roberts and Congressman Jerry Moran introduced the legislation last year.
