DURHAM, N.C. (AP) _ According to his spokeswoman, Senator Ted
Kennedy says he feels ``like a million bucks.''

The 76-year-old Democrat underwent three and a-half hours of brain surgery this morning at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. Duke's top neurosurgeon performed the operation and says Kennedy was awake during the procedure.

Dr. Allan Friedman is calling the surgery a success and says the team accomplished its ``goals.'' He said Kennedy should not experience any permanent neurological effects from the surgery.

A family spokeswoman says Kennedy told his wife that he felt good, and joked: ``I think I'll do that again tomorrow.''

The next step for the Massachusetts Democrat is expected to be chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Kennedy was hospitalized last month after a seizure and diagnosed with a malignant and lethal type of brain tumor.
