State GOP Chair Backs Romney

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ State Republican Chairman Kris Kobach is endorsing Mitt Romney for president.

Kobach said he's endorsing Romney because of his position on
illegal immigration.

Kobach teaches constitutional and immigration law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He previously worked as an adviser to the U.S. attorney general on immigration and border security.

Kobach's announcement came only three days after Sen. Sam Brownback and the state's two representatives on the Republican
National Committee announced the formation of a new group supporting John McCain.

Kansas Republicans plan to hold presidential caucuses Feb. 9.
