An assistant Topeka city attorney will take over the top spot in the office, at least for now.
City Manager Norton Bonaparte named Braxton Copley interim city attorney Wednesday. Copley will take over for Brenden Long, who announced his resignation last week.
Long's last day as city attorney will be January 25th. He's accepted a position as the associate general counsel and director of human resources for TFI Family Services.
Copley started working for the city in September 2000. He was promoted to assistant city attorney in July 2002.
